Sonic Branding &
Music Direction for your business.
At Flylife Creative, playlist curation isn’t a deliverable. It’s a discipline shaped by instinct, history, and the belief that music should move people, not just occupy space. Every mix is guided by a distinctly human touch, grounded in decades of experience and a deep understanding of how sound shapes emotion.
Origins: The Underground That Became a Blueprint
The story begins in 1991, when Felix Cutillo opened Boston Beat Records, New England’s first DJ-only vinyl shop and the pulse of Boston’s underground electronic scene. The shop drew DJs, dancers, producers, and crate-diggers who helped shape the region’s evolving sound.
As a resident DJ at The Roxy, Pravda, Caprice, and Club Joy, Felix introduced the rhythms of global house music to Boston nightlife. His sets turned rooms into communities, creating the type of nights people still talk about decades later.
Defining Sonic Identity in Luxury Retail
Felix’s instinct for atmosphere found its next expression in luxury retail. At Louis Boston® he launched the Louis Boston Music Bar, merging refined retail with immersive sound. He produced the store’s official compilation CD and curated a rare, globally sourced CD collection featuring rare jazz, rare groove, EDM, rare pop, deep house, and niche genres that spoke to his expansive repertoire.
His reach extended further with the release of Visage (2003) and Visage 2 (2005). Issued as 2×LPs and CDs, both compilations earned critical acclaim in underground circles for their deep electronic, lounge, and downtempo selections spotlighting emerging EDM artists of the early 2000s.
The relationship between sound and space reached a new level at Bergdorf Goodman®, where Felix created Volume Music and Book Bar, the store’s first branded music-and-book concept. During this era, he produced three limited-edition compilations—Volume 1, Volume 2, and A Very Bergdorf Holiday. Each release became a cult classic among the BG faithful, influencing tastemakers worldwide and helping to define the sonic aesthetic now associated with world-class retail and hospitality environments. Today, Bergdorf Goodman® remains an active Flylife Creative client, continuing a long-standing partnership anchored in trust and impeccable taste.
Felix’s work has been featured in The New York Times T Magazine, The Boston Globe, and MIDEM Magazine, reflecting his role in shaping how luxury brands think about sound.
From Sonodea to Flylife Creative
In 2009, Felix founded Sonodea, a music curation consultancy dedicated to designing bespoke sonic environments. Collaborations with Celebrity Cruises®, Ritz-Carlton® Miami, Bamford Shops London, Daylesford Organic London, and Banana Republic® demonstrated how music could shift from background noise to a strategic brand element.
Sonodea has since evolved into Flylife Creative, where Felix continues to fuse musical insight with creative direction, brand strategy, and cultural fluency.
